Norwalk Stingrays Stop Newtown

The NJSA Norwalk Stingrays Under-13 girls travel team defeated Newtown, 5-1, in a game last weekend.

Forward Maeve Flaherty scored the first of her two goals off a throw in from center mid-fielder Natalie LaBella. Flaherty's next shot came assisted from forward Olivia Rosado. Laura Somma scored the third goal on a penalty kick. Rosado scored the first of her two goals next off a corner kick from Somma. Rosado scored again on an assist from Flaherty.

The stingy Stingrays defense was led by Kristin Burnham, Vanessa DeFederico, Mackenzie Lea and Cecily Stearns. Keepers Christina VanDeventer and Arianna D'Agostino kept the game in check. Arianna Marotta, Esha Sharma, Rachael Swenson, Elvira Theodoridis and Kristen Williams all played well for the 'Rays.
