NORWALK, Conn. – Norwalk kids 14-and-under will get a chance to hone their soccer skills when the New York Red Bulls come to town for a week-long soccer camp.

Councilman Warren Peña said up to 200 children – half of them from Norwalk – attended a recent camp, and he hoped families would take advantage of the opportunity to learn more in the week-long version.

The camp will be held in Veteran's Park. The morning class is currently $185, and all-day sessions are $230. Participants will receive a Red Bulls Adidas T-shirt, Red Bulls Adidas soccer ball, personalized Skills Challenge scorecard and a companion ticket to a Red Bulls home game.

Peña arranged for the club to come, saying the city needed something positive. The city of Norwalk and Mayor Richard Moccia will host a welcoming reception Monday evening at O'Neill's Pub & Restaurant in SoNo.

The Red Bulls are a professional team that plays in Major League Soccer.
