Norwalk River Rowing Sends 2 Crews To U.S. Youth Nationals

NORWALK, CONN. -- Norwalk River Rowing Association’s youth racing program finished off a successful spring sprint season by qualifying two for the USRowing Youth National Championships in West Windsor, N.J., June 10-12.

Liam McDonough of Pound Ridge, N.Y. and Christopher Martensson of Norwalk will race in the Men’s Youth Pair.

Jamie Fagan, Kevin Lenihan, Brad Spiewak and Ethan Reichgut all of Wilton along with Ben Hufnagel of Norwalk will race in the Men’s Youth Lightweight Four. This is the youngest boat Norwalk River Rowing has ever qualified at Nationals as three of the five rowers are high school sophomores.

After competing at regional competitions nationwide, only the top youth rowers go on to Youth Nationals, which consists of 178 clubs racing in 18 events.
