NORWALK, Conn. – The Norwalk River Rowing Association will send eight crews and 16 athletes to the USRowing Youth National Championships this week in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
Athletes from Norwalk, Wilton, New Canaan, Darien and Pound Ridge will represent Norwalk River Rowing, which has the largest contingent of boats from the Northeast headed to nationals. Women’s head coach Catharine Labine has two crews headed to the national regatta, while men’s coach Yuri Kolomiets will be sending six crews.
Norwalk River Rowing’s girls crew consists of the Women’s 4+ of Julia Barr; Amanda Jenkins; Kylie O’Connor; Maggie Walsh and coxswain Caroline Arnold. O’Connor and Walsh will compete in the Women’s 2-. Madeline Appuzzo will be a spare.
Norwalk’s men’s lineups consist of the men’s lightweight 4+ with Chad Ballard; Joe Blake; Kris Petreski; James Koenigsberg; and cox : Frankie Hogan; the men’s 4+ with Dave Sullivan; Alex Sedlak; Taylor Stauffer; Stefan Petreski; and cox: Patrick Lyons. ; the men’s 2- with Sullivan and Stefan Petreski; the men’s 2- with Taylor Stauffer and Alex Sedlak; the men’s 2x with Joe Blake and Marten Martensson; and the men’s lightweight 2x with Ballard and Koenigsberg. Liam McDonough will be the spare.
The US Rowing National Youth Championships begin with heats on Friday. The semifinals are Saturday and the finals are Sunday. The racing will be video-streamed live via http://www.youtube.com/user/usrowingorg
