Liolin comes to Norwalk River Rowing with over 20 years of coaching experience, most recently as varsity lightweight men’s coach at Georgetown University, where his crews excelled. Liolin also coached at Yale, Northeastern, University of Chicago and the Boston Rowing Center.

Liolin has coached at the US Rowing Lightweight Development Camp and for the United States Junior National Team. Crews he has coached have won gold and silver medals at the US National Championships, silver and bronze medals at the World Junior Championships and gold and silver medals at the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta.

“I'm thrilled to join the Norwalk family,” Liolin said. “The girls are highly motivated and the community is deeply committed to excellence. I couldn't be more excited to get started.”

“We are very excited to have Coach Liolin join our organization,” said Alex Chapman, president.  “Our girl’s program is already quite successful, placing three of this year’s seniors at Division I schools -- the University of California, Alabama and Stetson -- and Coach Liolin will help bring the girls program to the next level. Coach Liolin will work alongside our successful boys racing team head coach, Yuri Kolomiets.”

Kolomiets has coached the boys team to some major achievements in the past year, including a gold at the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta and a fifth-place medal at the Head of the Charles, both powered by Pound Ridge rowers Kris Petreski and Liam McDonough.

Three of Kolomiets’ boats finished in the top 10 in the nation last summer at the US Rowing Youth National Championships in Sacramento, Calif.

“I am very much looking forward to working with Coach Liolin,” Kolomiets said. “Together, we will work toward making Norwalk River Rowing the pre-eminent rowing club in Fairfield County.”
