NORWALK, Conn. -- The Norwalk 5th grade Packers football team improved to 8-0 with a 30-0 win over Shelton in its first-round playoff game.
Norwalk will meet Newtown on Sunday in the Colonial Youth Football League championship game at Shelton High School. Kickoff is at 11 a.m.
A.J. Robinson's 5-yard touchdown run started the scoring for Norwalk. Koy Price scored on a 15-yard run and Roderick Olson scored on a 2-yard run as Norwalk built an 18-0 halftime lead. Price ran 65 yards and Eason raced 45 yards for second half touchdowns for the Packers.
Lorenzo Delphino, Price and Nemo Harris had sacks, while Stephen Murphy and Price recovered fumbles. Khalil Eason made a nice play to stop a Shelton pass play.
Norwalk, the defending league champions, is coached by Bert Borges. The Packers have outscored opponents 223-19 on the season, and Sunday's win was their fifth shutout. Norwalk beat Newtown earlier this season, 26-6.
