Price won the intermediate 95-pound division with two pins and a technical fall. In the final match, Price pinned Jacob Marasco of Silverback in 2:46.
“Koy is one of the hardest workers in the room,’’ Mad Bulls coach Art Schad said. “He’s focused on what he wants to do in this sport, he asks a tremendous amount of relevant questions, is always talking strategy with the coaching staff or asking for help in perfecting a move or his technique.”
Price, a second-year wrestler, finished fourth in the state championships last year.
Jeff Capone, an eighth grader, finished second in his division. Artie Cocchia finished fourth in the 87-pound weight division, and Jeff Cocchia finished fifth. Jason Martinez, Patrick Coulture, Brian Mallozzi, Niki Garoffolo and Charlie Prather also wrestled for the Mad Bulls. Jeff Cocchia became the first wrestler from the club to place for three consecutive years at states.
“It’s been a long grinding season at times,” program director Randy Haus said. “We push the kids to compete as much as possible to prepare them for the end of season qualifier and State Championships. We started the season with 46 kids and for whatever reason, some kids lost interest or find it too physically demanding, but we finished with 36 tough kids that never quit or even thought about taking it easy. It was a great finish to a long season.”
