Norwalk Little League Action

Below is a recap of recent Norwalk Little League games:

Majors

Frattaroli leads Laurel AC over Rowayton Pizza, 5-2

Danny Frattaroli pitched a strong game to lead Laurel AC over Rowayton Pizza at Bayley Beach in a strong game by both teams. Frattaroli threw five innings, allowing only one hit, one run and striking out seven. Michael Pascarelli earned the save. Jimmy Evans was 2-for-2 with a double, triple and two runs scored to lead Laurel AC. Matt St. Louis added two hits and a run scored, Joey Laracca had a double with two RBIs. Jeff Joslyn and Danny Frattaroli each had two singles. Jake Guaglione contributed with several nice plays at second base.

Eagles Swoop Down on Lions

The Eagles, behind the strong pitching of Isaac Keehn and Stephen Howard as well as timely hitting and base running, defeated the Lions, 5-1. Keehn pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowing three hits, one walk with 11 strikeouts. Howard closed the game, allowing two hits and one walk in 1 1/3 innings. The offense was led by Ricky Clark with two singles and three RBIs. Matt Howard doubled in one run, and Shawn Hanzlik's double scored two runs. Andrew Clark and Param Patel each singled. For the Lions, Jack Potochney was 3-for-3 with a double, John Swick scored a run, and Andrew Goldstein and Mike Powers also contributed hits.

Laurel AC over Signature Landscaping, 6-3Jimmy Evans and Michael Pascarelli allowed three runs on three hits to lead Laurel AC over Signature Landscaping, 6-3. Evans earned his first win of the season and Pascareli closed the game for his second straight save. Laurel AC was led by the hitting of Jeff Joslyn, Joey Laracca and Anthony Bombace. Bombace and Matt St. Louis chipped in with several nice defensive plays.

AAA

Stew Leonard's runs out of gas against Rowayton Fuel

Patrick Coulter doubled and Kevin Pascual singled home a run, but it wasn't enough as Rowayton Fuel bested Stew Leonard's, 5-2, in a well-played game Sunday at Brookside School.

Mathews Stays HotMathews Restoration continues to stay hot as it took on Marinellos Pizza on Sunday. Kyle Gordon pitched five innings and gave up one hit, nine strikeouts and no walks. For Marinellos, Ryan Byrne pitched well and Nick DiIorio hit a double and scored a run. Jack Mathews closed out the game for Matthews, pitching a scoreless sixth. Nathan Stiles led Matthews hitting with three hits and four RBIs.

Matarese Scores a Comeback WinMatarese, down early by five, scored eight unanswered runs to take an 8-5 win over Partner's. Strong pitching by Sean Buzzee, Kayshawn Crawley and Zack Brace shut down the offense. Solid hitting by Jeff Cocchia, Zack Brace and Kyle Dobson led Matarese's offense. Timely defense by Louie Cundari, Brandon Lesoveck and Artie Cocchia contributed to the win.

Mathews Shuts Down Matarese

In a rain-shortened game, Mathews Restoration pitcher Michael Boyian flirted with a no hitter as he tossed four innings of shutout ball with no hits, 11 strikeouts and one hit batter. The Mathews offense was led with hits from James Cirifalco, Kyle Gordon, Ryan Pellini, Michael Secchi, Jack Matthews and Michael Boyian.

Grizzlies Fall to Rowayton Fuel

The Grizzlies played a tough game against Rowayton Fuel and dropped a close one, 7-5.

Marinellos Shut Down by Fuel

Rowayton Fuel scored three runs in the first innings and two runs in the fourth to down Marinello's, 5-0.

AA

Italia Best Brendans 101

On Saturday, the Italia won a hard-fought victory over Brendans 101. Led by the solid pitching of Mitchell Stiles, Jose Vasquez and Brandon Frederique, the Brendans 101 bats were kept at bay. Arturo Munoz had the defensive play of the game with a stellar catch at short, and Noah Maldanado led the way with two powerful hits to drive in critical runs.

Norwalk Firefighters Battle Ferris Hill

The Firefighters had good pitching from Anthony Kayal and timely hitting by Andrew Miele, Chris Drummond, Joshua Vega and Jonathan Stefanidis. Ferris Hill was led by outstanding hitting and defense by Cathy Sheehan, Jaden Anderson, Nick Anderson, Lea Bamford, Olivia Bamford and Gabe Beres.

Firefighters Take on Pizza & Pasta

In a rain-shortened game, the Norwalk Firefighters pitched Joey Snyder and Ryan Buzzee and had good fielding from Tommy Flewellyn. There were hits for the Firefighters by Zain Cheema, Andrew Miele and Colin Lenskold.

Minors

Alliance Heating and Air Conditioning Play Neptune Power

Offensively for Alliance, Aiden Willkehr, Joseph Cirifalco and Jamie Brown all led the way with solid hits. Ryan Darling contributed several nice plays defensively while Jason Venuto made two good stops at third base.
