Norwalk High Player Helps AAU Basketball Team Capture NY State Championship

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – The Academic Basketball Club 17u AAU team, comprised mostly of Fairfield County high school stars slipped across state lines and grabbed the Zero Gravity Basketball hosted NY State Championship over the weekend.

Playing at the tournament's highest division, ABC beat the Long Island Lightning 71-64, Up City Elite (Greater NYC) 64-62, LIL Granville (Queens) 69-40 and Asphalt Green (Greater NYC) 65-61 in the title game.

The team's roster was comprised of Matt Kronenberg (Wilton High), Pete Kotulsky (Norwalk High), Hayes Kelchner (Ludlowe High), Alex Preston (Darien High), Hamilton Forsythe (Weston High), Jorden Means (Arch Bishop Stepinac High), Marcus Fox (Danbury High), Greg Lawrence (Ludlowe High), Carter Scott (Darien High) and Cole Prowitt-Smith (Ludlowe High).

The Academic Basketball Club was founded by Harvey Rubin of Stamford and Paul Krumins of Fairfield. It fields its AAU basketball teams from high academic players, who are recruiting prospects for high academic colleges.

This was the second big AAU tournament championship for the team this spring. Two weeks ago, they captured the National Division of the Basketball Hall of Fame sponsored New England Championships.
