After an impressive inaugural season in 2013 as 7th-graders, the now 8th grade girls have been on fire in 2014. The team has won many and finished strong in all other AAU tournaments throughout the spring/summer hoops season. The team won the "For Love of the Game Tournament," which is hosted by Conn. Impact Basketball. It has also gone undefeated against the best teams in the state to win the AAU division 1 state championship in their age group.

Ranked as the No, 1 8th Grade Girls team in the state by AAU, the "Hoop Group" of friends from Norwalk, Wilton, Bridgeport and West Haven have an impressive resume outside the state as well, finishing second in the "college" division of the Mo'motion league in Harlem, N.Y.; going 4-2 at the USJN Hershey Showcase in Hershey, Pa.; winning a silver medal at the Girls Mid Atlantic Championships in Maryland; and going 4-2 at the NIKE/NCAA/USJN Nationals in Washington, D.C.

This group of girls also includes several honor students. The team is still going, competing in two leagues that started in early September. They are undefeated in both of them: the highly touted, Nike sponsored Rose Classic League in Brooklyn, N.Y., as well as the Brewster Sports Center's High School League in Brewster, N.Y.

Conn. Impact Girls Travel/AAU Basketball tryouts for the 2015 season are being held Saturday, Nov. 8, at Hubbell Gymnasium/University of Bridgeport at 120 Waldemere Avenue in Bridgeport.
