NORWALK, Conn. – Norwalk’s Willie Epps, a wide receiver on the football team at Southern Connecticut State University, was named to the Northeast-10 Conference weekly honor roll Monday after a brilliant game against American International College on Saturday.

Epps had eight receptions for 104 yards and a touchdown in a 34-7 loss. For the season, Epps has a team-high 28 receptions and four touchdowns. He is averaging 17.3 yards per reception.

The senior is moving up several school charts. He is fourth all-time in career receptions with 138, and he has 26 career touchdowns, third all-time at Southern. He has moved into second place all-time in receiving yards. He also had a big game the previous week, making six catches for 180 yards and two touchdowns in a 47-26 win over Pace.

While the season has been an individual success for Epps, the Owls have struggled to a 2-5 record. Epps said prior to the season he was looking forward to playing on a conference title contender, but a 0-4 start hurt the team's season. Southern’s defense has surrendered 30 or more points in five times this season. The Owls meet Assumption on Friday in New Haven. Epps’ final home game will be Nov. 3 in New Haven against Bentley.
