Norwalk Crews Earn Five Golds at First Summer Regatta

NORWALK, Conn. – Norwalk River Rowing Association followed up a strong showing at the U.S. Youth Nationals by winning five gold medals Sunday at its first summer event, the Festival Regatta in Lowell, Mass.

Norwalk crews also earned five silver medals and several third places.

Norwalk won its first gold in the Mixed 2x with Kyle Mikesh and Julia Barr. Amanda Jenkins and Stefan Petreski took second.

In the Men’s 4+, Norwalk won with James Koenigsberg, Joseph Blake, Madox Hussey and Vishesh Ramesh. The Men’s Junior 8+ won with Ramseh, Ronan Lane, Ryan Solecki, Brian Helms, Liam McDonough, Matt Koenigsberg, Luke Goodwin, Kristofer Petreski and David Sullivan.

Stefan Petreski and Kyle Mikesh won their Men’s Junior 2x flight, followed by James Koenigsberg and Chad Ballard. In Flight 2 of the same race, Norwalk won with Luke Goodwin and Lane, while Kris Petreski and Liam McDonough took third.

The Men’s 2- team of David Sullivan and Matt Koenigsberg took second, while Madox Hussey took second in the Men’s Junior 1x. Jenkins and Barr were second in the Women’s Junior 2x.

Jon Massari, Joseph Blake and Brian Helms added third place finishes in 1x events, and Emma Webb was third in her flight of the Women’s Junior 1x. Ryan Solecki finished fourth in the second flight of the Men’s Junior 1x.

Massari, Peter Mueller, Hussey and Willem Taverna competed in the Men’s 4x in an exhibition.
