Norwalk Cheer Girls Win League Crown

NORWALK, Conn. – Girls from the Norwalk Junior Football and Cheer team won the Colonial League championship Sunday in their division. The team is sponsored by Norwalk Athletic Association.

Girls ages 11-13 took home Grand Champion honors in Division 13 at the competition at New Milford High School. Norwalk also took second in Division 8, and fourth in Division 10. The Division 13 winners had the highest score out of all the teams in the various divisions.

All of Norwalk’s teams advance to state competition Nov. 10 in Shelton. The Division 13 girls also will compete in regionals Nov. 24 in Providence, R.I. The Colonial League includes teams from Danbury, Bridgeport, Bethel, Newtown, Easton and Redding, Ansonia, Shelton, Monroe, New Milford, Oxford and Shelton.

Norwalk’s team includes Rayna Aguiar, Emilee Bach, Valeria Barragan, DaNasiah Blackwell, Caroline Desmonts, Casey Eaton, Lilly Fosella, Summer Hall, Kayla Henderson, Shannon Huzina, Genesis Johnson, Sarah Joyner, Anna Korytnyuk, Iman LaBorde-Mobley, Jordyn Lewis, Kayla Light, Kinsale Maloney, Olivia Massucco, Jessica Misorek, Hailey Parisi, McKenzie Parks, Jessica Pia, Michelle Porcheddu, Ariyan Prezzie, Alexandra Quintero, Angelica Rodriguez, Karina Rojas, Myah Simms, Brynn Spielman, Damiana Tuck, Aimee Whitman and Natalie Zullo.

Coaches include Nina Ruffin, Leslie Zullo, Kelcie Wehmhoff, Cori Iannazzo and Diane Aguiar. Charlette Lewis is the team manager and Maribeth Bach is the cheer coordinator.
