NORWALK, Conn. Results of recent games in the Minor Division of the Norwalk Cal Ripken Baseball League:
Furst Properties 5, Pirros Players 4 : Furst properties took the lead in the bottom of the second inning on a clutch two-out, two-RBI single by Timmy Neschis that scored Koy Price and Brian Mallozzi. Pirros Players answered back in the top of the third inning, scoring four runs of their own on a bases-loaded double by Jared Jones. Jones scored the final run of the inning by stealing home on a wild pitch. Furst Properties promptly answered back in the bottom of the inning with three runs when Jayden Gonzalez, Tarique Carter and Brian Ehlers all reached base on walks and scored on a single by Ryan DAmico and walks to Keegan Agostino and Joe Druin. The one-run lead proved to be enough as pitchers Druin and DAmico held Pirro's Players scoreless in the final three innings.
Furst Properties 7, George Comfort & Sons 6: Furst Properties got the win in the bottom of the sixth inning on a walk-off sacrifice fly by Randy Mateo to score Timmy Neschis. George Comfort & Sons took the lead with a five-run third inning sparked by singles by Evan Schwartz, James Baumblatt, Brian Lowden and a double by Jack Belcher. Furst Properties scored three runs in the bottom of the inning thanks to hits by Jayden Gonzalez, Mateo and Ryan DAmico. The offense then tacked on another run in the bottom of the fifth inning when DAmico led off with a single and he was hit home on a triple by Joe Druin. Furst Properties pitchers, with help from a solid defense, held the opposition scoreless for the final three innings and came up to bat in the bottom of the sixth down 6-5. Brian Mallozzi and Neschis led off the sixth inning with walks. Mallozzi was singled home by Brian Ehlers and Neschis moved to third base. Mateo then launched a deep fly ball to right center field that was caught, but Neschis tagged up and easily scored the games winning run.
Sono Energy 10, Pirros 6: Sono Energy was led again by Jake Dumas on the mound and at the plate, as he pitched three innings and doubled, singled and drove in two runs. Kameron Hurd pitched the other three innings, and Brandon Miller walked twice and scored two runs. Stanley Bullock walked twice and singled, and Kiron Martinez walked twice and scored. Donny Defalo and Bradley Barker also walked and scored.
Furst Properties 11, Sono Field House 1: Furst Properties belted out eight hits and 11 runs in a shortened, four-inning game. Jayden Gonzalez (2-for-3 with two RBIs) and Randy Mateo (2-for-2 with three RBIs) did the most damage, but the entire line-up did its part to score runs. Dane Buffardi, Koy Price, Brian Mallozzi and Dante Melucci all contributed with RBIs and runs scored. Furst Properties pitchers Joe Druin, Keegan Agostino and Brian Ehlers threw strikes, combining for seven strikeouts and only three walks in the four innings of play. Sono Field Houses lone run came when Chris Veneruso doubled in Javier Gonzalez in the third inning.
Sono Energy 5, Furst Properties 2: Sono Energys only defeat this year came vs. Furst Properties, and it avenged that loss behind strong pitching from Jake Dumas and Jake Deleo, who went three innings each. Sono also played a lot of small ball in this one, making the most of walks and a few big hits: RBI singles came from Dumas and Bradley Barker, and William Hinton had a big hit to extend a rally. Kiron Martinez singled and scored, Dumas drew two walks and scored twice, and Deleo drew two key walks and scored once. Furst Properties jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first when Randy Mateo doubled, scored on a triple by Ryan DAmico, who scored the second run on a wild pitch. DAmico added a single later, and Jayden Gonzalez also had a hit. Furst Propeties pitchers Joe Druin, Brian Ehlers, Keegan Agostino and DAmico held Sono to four hits and struck out 10.
