NORWALK, Conn. – The Norwalk Cal Ripken 9-year-old Baseball All-Stars meet Newtown Saturday at 3 p.m. in New Milford in the opening round of the state tournament.

There are eight teams in the double elimination tournament. Norwalk plays at 5:30 p.m. Sunday with a victory Saturday, and at 12:30 p.m. Sunday if it loses.

Norwalk won the District 1 championship by defeating Stratford, 13-11, in the District 1 championship game.  

The tournament championship game is scheduled for 10 a.m. July 28. An if-necessary game will be played July 29. The complete bracket is available online.

Norwalk’s 9-year-old District 1 champions include Owen Liscio, Bryan Lowden, Joe Druin, Daniel Goodnow, Brandon Miller, Kobi Agard, Brian Ehlers, Ben Boccanfuso, Zaire Profit, Jacob Feinstein, Javier Gonzalez and Justin McNamara. The coaching staff includes manager Rick Liscio and coaches Rit Ehlers and Dan Goodnow.
