Norwalk Cal Ripken 11-Year-Old Stars Reach State Final

NORWALK, Conn. -- The Norwalk Cal Ripken 11-year-old baseball team will play for the state championship on Saturday at Tim Devine Field.

Norwalk defeated Stratford on Thursday, 9-8, in the winners' bracket final. Norwalk will play the winner of Friday's game between Stratford and Newtown.

Saturday's championship round begins at 10 a.m. If Norwalk loses, a winner-take-all game will begin at 12:30 p.m.

Norwalk is 3-0 in the tournament, with wins over Hebron, New Milford and Stratford. Thursday's loss was the first for Stratford.

The state champion advances to the New England Regional tournament in Dover, N.H. beginning Aug. 1.

Norwalk's 9-year-old All-Stars also captured the state tournament. They will advance to the New England Tournament in Hebron.
