Xtreme’s Flare, a Level 3 team for girls ages 10-18, dazzled the crowd at the Beast of the East competition. Flare’s finish earned the girls a berth in the The Summit, a competition that features the best teams in the United States. That competition is in May in Florida.
The competition in New Jersey included some of the best teams in the East. Flare scored six points ahead of its closest Level 3 rival, and its total was better than all but one Level 4 team. The higher level number indicates advanced techniques.
“Our girls were flawless on the second day,’’ coach Dana Talbot said. “They were exceptional.”
Flare’s team is Norwalk's Chelsey Martylewski, Brianna Pelicci and Deanna Magee; Greenwich’s Lauren Disbennett, Nina Jordao, Elianna Betzios, Kaley Goane, Shelby Hopper and Danielle Ruiz; Darien’s Lauren Peluso; Westport’s Samantha Troy; New Canaan’s Carson Allsteadt and Katie Ferguson; Weston’s Caroline Terrell, Chase Liebow and Kylie Packer; Wilton’s Jessica Favarolo; Stratford’s Kelly Ceccarelli; West Haven’s Lisa Balls and Samantha Scheffelin.
Six Xtreme teams competed in New Jersey, and Talbot was pleased with their first competition of the year. “Our teams did well against some of the best competition we’ll see all year,’’ Talbot said.
Xtreme returns to competition this weekend in Providence, R.I.
