Norwalk 8th Graders Meet in Summer Court

NORWALK, Conn. – Eighth grade boys' basketball teams from Norwalk squared off at Darien High School Thursday night in a summer league game in the Fairfield County Basketball League.

The teams played a tight contest earlier this summer, and it was close again Thursday as the team wearing blue jerseys nipped the red team, 29-27, in overtime.

The games are more casual than the winter league, which is for teams in fourth through eighth grades. There is also a summer league for high school students that plays at Stamford High School. The league helps players maintain and improve their skills while playing in games with officials.

The Norwalk teams are coached by Shuan Malone and Darrick Eason. Matt McQuillen is team manager for both teams. This is the first summer for middle school summer basketball, and teams from Darien, New Canaan, Westport, Wilton, Stamford, Weston and Fairfield have teams in the league.
