Norwalk 6th Grade Girls Lacrosse Team Takes Brookfield Tournament

NORWALK, Conn. – The Norwalk 6th grade Blue girls lacrosse team won the 2015 Icebreaker Tournament in the 6A division on Sunday in Brookfield.

Norwalk finished undefeated at 5-0, beating Newtown in the championship game, 5-1. En route to the finals, Norwalk beat Newtown , 6-1; Cheshire, 7-4; Wallingford, 7-2; and New Milford, 8-1.

Although the coaches moved players to different positions throughout the day, the team started each game with the same lineup.

Ava Tracy, Meghan Sisk, Nora Hagerty, and Mikaela Ortolano started at attack and contributed  solid offense throughout the tournament.  

Midfielders Emma Riley, Anna  Makover and Lia L'Archevesque provided strong play at both ends of the field as well as winning the majority of the draws.

At defense, Kate Ely, Caroline Fabrizio, Ryan Camiglio and Hatsie Dunne, played consistently all day in front of Ayzlinn Molina, the team's new goalie. The team won the tournament despite having no substitute players.

The team is coached by Jen Makover and Ed Riley.
