NORWALK, Conn. The 4th grade Norwalk Packers scored two touchdowns in the final five minutes to defeat Newtown, 14-7, and move into first place in the Colonial Youth Football League.Norwalk quarterback Jakari Walker connected with Ras Fisher on a 52-yard TD pass. Then Walker carried in the PAT, tying the game at 7-7 with four minutes left.Norwalk's outstanding defense held Newtown to 3-and-out as the Packers took possession with 2:38 left in the game. Norwalk began its final drive on its own 41.Hunter Parks took a sweep for 21 yards, getting the Packers a new set of downs. With the ball on the Newtown 40, Walker hit receiver John Wise with a 17-yard pass putting Norwalk on the Newtown 23. Parks raced into the end zone from there with the help of key block by Aaron Epps. Fisher ran in the PAT, giving Norwalk the 14-7 lead with 53 seconds to play.Norwalk's defense played a strong game. Jermayne Daniels had multiple tackles, two sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Kyle Gordon recorded three sacks. Nick DiIorio forced a fumble and had a sack. Jeff Cocchia recorded multiple tackles and had a fumble recovery.
The victory turned the tables on Newtown, which defeated Norwalk, 7-6, in the first game of the season. Norwalk plays Monroe Saturday at 7 p.m. at Brien McMahon. Video of the game is available online .
