FAIRFIELD, Conn. Greenwichs Anja Krieger-Redwood won her third straight race in the womens division while New Canaans Will McDonough topped the mens field in the Boston Buildup 20-kilometer run in Fairfield.
McDonough covered the 12.4 miles in 1:09.42. Krieger-Redwood ran 1:22.19 to pace the womens field. The race featured a record 344 finishers, eclipsing the previous high of 324 set last year. The race was run on a new course with temperatures in the teens.
McDonough pulled away from Tim Milenkevich with about four miles to go. Art Gunther came on to finish second in 1:10.34 and Milenkevich took third in 1:10.55. Milenkevich runs for the Westport-based TargeTraining team.
Krieger-Redwood led from start to finish. Dariens Liz Herbert took second in the womens division in 1:24.23 and Norwalks Julie Heaphy finished third in 1:24.32.
McDonough pulled ahead in the overall series standings, followed by Milenkevich and Jacob Grice, of Stamford. Krieger-Redwood leads the womens field, followed by Herbert and Heaphy.
The 34th-edition of the winter running series concludes with a 25-kilometer run on March 4 at Silvermine School in Norwalk. Complete results are available at clubct.org.
