“It was an honor to meet the patients and family members that participated in the MMRF Race for Research: Tri-State 5K Walk/Run,” Valentine said in a news release. “The community event provides an incredible opportunity to truly make a difference in the fight against this cancer.”
In addition to the race, the organization honored Dan and Elisabeth Mulhurn of New Canaan, who have supported the 5K event since its start in 2004 by having family members and employees of their company M Milestones participating, the release said. They also get people to be “virtual runners” by signing up and donating who couldn't participate.
“Elisabeth and I are committed to supporting the MMRF because we have seen how the money raised by the MMRF goes directly to cancer research that has led to the FDA approval of six new drugs in the last 10 years,” Dan Mulhurn said in the release.
More than 1,500 people from all over Connecticut, New York and New Jersey participated in the organization’s 10th annual 5K event.
