Mother's Day Runs Planned In Norwalk, Ridgefield

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – The 36th annual Mother’s Day 10K and the Run Like A Mother 5k in Ridgefield join a new race in Westport as running options for Fairfield County fitness enthusiasts this weekend.

Sunday’s 10k in Norwalk begins at 8 a.m. at Calf Pasture Beach.  Run Like A Mother begins at 8:30 a.m., with a kids race at 8 a.m., at 90 Prospect St. in Ridgefield. The new kid on the running block this weekend is the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Westport on Saturday at Sherwood Island State Park. It begins at 8:30 a.m.

The 10k in Norwalk is the longest running of all the events. It is hosted by Lightfoot Running Club and Norwalk Recreation and Parks. There is also a 5k health walk. Runners can register on race day. More information is available online.

The race in Ridgefield is one of eight nationwide in the Run Like A Mother stable, which was created by Ridgefield resident Megan Searfoss. More information is online.

The Komen Race also features two walks and events for kids. There is also a breakfast and parade for survivors on Sunday. Find out more on the Komen website.

Runners can also race next Thursday in Stamford at the RFR 5k in downtown Stamford. Information is online.
