Breaking News: Man Charged With Illegal Racing, Negligent Homicide In Area Crash

Meyer, Heaphy Win Buildup 15K

Ridgefield's Luke Meyer won the men's race and Norwalk's Julie Heaphy made it two straight wins in the women's field in the Boston Buildup 15-kilometer run Sunday in Ridgefield. The race had 282 finishers, the second highest total in the 33-year history of the event.

Meyer, a former star at Ridgefield High School, covered the 9.3-mile course in 52:02. New Haven's Chris Hague took second in 54:30, followed by Norwalk's Eneas Freyre in 55:41.

Heaphy ran 1:01:45, followed by Anja Krieger-Redwood of Cos Cob in 1:03:57 and Val Matena of Greenwich in 1:04:42.

The race was delayed a week because of the cold. Sunday's race was officially measured at 9.64 miles, about three-tenths of a mile longer than the intended distance. The third race in the four-race series will be the 20K on Feb. 13 at the Southport Railroad Station. Complete results and registration information is available at
