Darien High School seniors David Orner, Andrew Morley and Philipp Bogdanov, along with teammate Chris Petreski of Norwalk, took gold in the men’s youth 4x during the competition, and junior Dan Cone took the silver just a few seconds behind.
Sophomore Reese Gregory delivered the silver medal in the men’s youth lightweight 2x race.
Teammates Gaby Kulesz, Riley Marsh, Tighe Ekern, Brandon Golino, Andrew Orner and Alexander Williams also participated in the event.
“We are so pleased to see these kids rewarded at the culmination of our competitive spring season,” said Yan Vengerovskiy, men’s varsity coach and proprietor of Maritime Rowing Club. “Darien rowers can now boast that they are the fastest youth rowers in the nation. This is an impressive result.”
The club will now focus on its upcoming participation in the Royal Henley Regatta, which will be held June 29 to July 3 at Henley-on-Thames, England.
Maritime will be entering two men’s quads into the international competition.
