The Heart of a Giant award recognizes high school athletes who inspire greatness on and off the field. Players are nominated for demonstrating characteristics like commitment, character, teamwork, dedication and will. Townsend-Henry was nominated in Week 2 of the award.
Townsend-Henry said that his dedication is what stands out about him. He also spoke about how he tore his meniscus over the summer while attending a camp, and while it prevented him from playing the sport he loves, he was eventually able to recover. He said the experience helped him improve as a player and as a person.
"For our football team, we believe that what one does off the field effects everyone, and I live by that. I strive to create an example for my teammates off the field and on. I try to be the best player on the field no matter the circumstances," he said.
