After a back-and-forth first half between the Norwalk Carver Center 8th-grade boys and New Canaan 8th-Grade Black, Roy Kane Jr. tipped in a rebound as the horn sounded to give Norwalk a 25-23 lead at the break. It would never give the lead back in Saturday's game at St. Luke's Athletic Center.
Kane, Norwalk's tall center, recorded a double-double with a game-high 21 points and 17 rebounds as the Carver Center 8th-Graders pulled away for a 57-42 victory. Timmy Hinton also had a solid game with 11 points, while Jeremy Linton contributed an outside attack with 10 points and three three-pointers. Norwalk used a full-court press to force bad passes by New Canaan and racked up steals in the second half.
Norwalk CC , now 10-1 on the season, will take on Shehan Center-Bridgeport on Saturday and Wakeman-Fairfield on Sunday in the final scheduled weekend of the regular season. The following weekend will be used to play makeup games from previously postponed contests. The Carver Center 8th-Graders look like a team to beat come tournament time the first weekend in March.
