Ireland Itching To See What Norwalk High Can Do

Sean Ireland is probably one of the only people in the Northeast hoping the summer ends sooner than later. Ireland took the reins at Norwalk High School as the new head coach of the varsity football team in January.

"I'm counting down the days until Aug. 16," Ireland said. "Excited doesn't come close to how I'm feeling."

He led the team through spring practice this week, getting his first look at his players. Ireland said becoming the head coach is the "fulfillment of a small dream." A graduate of Norwalk High School in 1996 and an assistant coach since '98, Ireland knows the program better than most.

In the video Ireland discusses the state of the Bears and how he will lead the team, compared with his predecessor, Pete Tucci. Norwalk played its annual Green vs. White game Tuesday.
