Stephanie Garofoli scored 18 points and Greens Farms Academy hit clutch foul shots in the final minute to defeat Greenwich Academy, 34-27, in a Fairchester Athletic Association game Monday. It was the sixth straight victory for the Dragons.
Greenwich Academy trailed by three with 1:08 remaining. Senior captain Jenna Pittleman and sophomore Meighan Grady hit both ends of one-and-one foul shots to help GFA hold on. Garofoli added nine rebounds and six blocks for the Dragons, which improved to 6-1 overall in the FAA and 13-5 overall. GFA is tied for first place in the FAA with Hamden Hall.
The defensive execution was outstanding for GFA, which held an opponent to fewer than 30 points for the ninth time this season.
The Dragons host Miss Porter's in a non-league game Wednesday at GFA.
