The Bluefish, a minor league baseball team that plays in the Atlantic League, said it is prepared to offer the New Canaan news anchor a six-month media internship to write game recaps for the team during the 2015 baseball season.
Williams was suspended for six months without pay from his position as anchor and managing editor of "NBC Nightly News" after falsely reporting his experiences during the start of the Iraq war.
The Bluefish is hoping to provide him with a monthly stipend of $500, as well as an opportunity in sports reporting, it said in a news release.
"Our thought is to get Brian’s assistance in writing game reports following any Bluefish losses in 2015," Bluefish general manager Jamie Toole said. "With his reporting style, we may even win a few of those games."
The Bluefish did not give a deadline for Williams to accept the tongue-in-cheek job offer.
