Former Norwalk Star Tops Win List at Pitt

NORWALK, Conn. – Former Norwalk High pitcher Matt Iannazzo became the career win leader at the University of Pittsburgh on Friday in a 4-2 victory over the University of Hartford.

Iannazzo, a senior left-hander, picked up his 25th career victory to surpass Corey Baker, who played from 2008 to 2010. Iannazzo is now 4-0 on the season.

In the win over Hartford, he pitched eight strong innings with seven strikeouts, one walk, seven hits and two earned runs. He started the ninth before yielding to a relief pitcher.

Pitt is 10-7 on the season. Iannazzo leads the team in wins and innings pitched. His 3.74 ERA is the lowest among the team’s starters. Iannazzo has struck out 29 and walked just 10 batters in 33 2/3 innings.
