The final spots in the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference girls basketball playoffs will be determined Wednesday with four teams are scrambling for two spots.
Westhill (11-6 in the league) is seventh and Wilton (10-7) is eighth entering the final day of regular-season action. Norwalk and Darien (both 10-7) are also in contention.
Westhill brings a three-game winning streak into Wednesday's contest at Darien. The Blue Wave have won two straight and need to beat the Vikings to have a chance to get into the playoffs. The Vikings will secure a playoff spot with a win.
Wilton hosts Ridgefield (7 p.m.) in a key contest. The Warriors can lock up a spot with a win over the Tigers (15-2). Norwalk plays at Brien McMahon (5 p.m.) and needs to win to have a chance. Norwalk would have a tiebreaker advantage over Westhill and Darien but has lost to Wilton. Wilton has wins over Darien and Norwalk but has lost to Westhill.
Although a playoff spot is not at stake, New Canaan's 7 p.m. game at home against Trumbull could have an impact on playoff seedings. Trumbull (17-0) will be the No. 1 seed, but the Rams (14-3) could move to the second seed with a win and if Wilton upsets Ridgefield.
The first round of the playoffs will be played Saturday at the court of the higher seeded teams. The semifinals are scheduled for Tuesday at Fairfield Ludlowe, with the finals set for Thursday at Ludlowe.
