Fairfield American Falls, 6-3, To Texas In Little League World Series

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — It was a tough loss Sunday for Fairfield American as the boys from Connecticut lost to Texas, 6-3, in their second game of the Little League World Series.

Christian Mumphrey led the drive for Lufkin, Texas, hitting two home runs as the Southwest champions moved on step closer to the title game. 

It was the first tournament loss for Fairfield American, which had 19 consecutive wins until Sunday's game. 

Despite the loss, Fairfield American is still in the hunt at the World Series, which is played in Williamsport, Pa. The move to the losers bracket to continue the run for the championship game. 

The hometown heroes from Fairfield will next play Monday at 8 p.m. against the Northwest champions — Walla Walla Valley Little League. 

That game will be broadcast and stream online on ESPN2.
