Excitement Builds for McMahon Football

NORWALK, Conn. – A.J. Albano infused Brien McMahon High School football with a renewed sense of purpose and passion last year in his first season as head coach. As a former Senator, Albano was able to connect with his players in a way few coaches had before, which was a big reason why McMahon recorded its first winning season since 2006.

In the accompanying video, Albano says expectations are now higher for the Senators. That and a new coach across town in Norwalk High's Sean Ireland have re-ignited interest in Norwalk football, Albano says. He hopes that excitement will translate to wins in 2011.

McMahon football begin its season on the road at Harding on Saturday, Sept. 24, at 1:30 p.m. The fate of the Senators' season will likely be determined early on with a tough three-game home stand in weeks two through four. They host Staples, New Canaan and Wilton in what will be three difficult match-ups. McMahon also hosts Stamford and then Norwalk High for the 51st annual Thanksgiving Day showdown. The Senators will take on Fairfield Ludlowe, Ridgefield and Greenwich on the road.
