The final piece fell into place for the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference boys hockey tournament on the season's final day. Staples Co-Op secured the fifth seed in the playoffs after facing Fairfield Co-Op on Thursday.
New Canaan High School (12-0 FCIAC, 20-0 overall), which is defending its FCIAC championship and is undefeated on the season, is the far-and-away favorite to take the county title. The Rams dominated their competition all season, winning all but one game by at least two goals. The powerful New Canaan offense averaged more than five goals a game during the regular season.
