Arena Gymnasts Shine in St. Louis

Instead of meeting at the famed St. Louis Arch, Stamford's Arena Gymnasts met at the victors podium by winning more than 14 team and individual medals at the prestigious GymQuarters Invitational held last week at the Family Center in St. Charles, Mo.

In the Level 9 senior competition, New Canaan's Caroline Fitzpatrick cruised to the all-around gold medal by posting a blistering total score of 37.375. Fitzpatrick turned in gold medal performances on the uneven bars (9.325), balance beam (9.500) and floor (9.400) and took bronze in the vault with a 9.15.

Arena's Level 7 squad, led by Erika Marr of Ridgefield, Rayna Weiser of Westport and Ashlyn Wahl of Greenwich brought home the bronze medal by placing third out of the 20-team field. Marr took first place in the junior division by winning gold medals on beam (9.550) and vault (9.450) and took fourth on floor (9.475). In the senior division, Weiser tied for first place in the all-around (36.9.50) while winning the gold medal on bars (9.300). In the youth division, Wahl took silver in the all-around with first place finishes on beam (9.775) and floor (9.525).

In addition to Marr, Weiser and Wahl's bronze-medal winning level 7 team also featured Maddie Henrie of Stamford, Nikki Psichopaidas of Stamford, Kate Kushner of New Cannan, Bianca Dinisoe of Norwalk, Ilana Olin of Wilton and Kristen Onorato of Westport.

Also representing Arena's  Level 8 team were Pamela Onorato (Westport) who finished sixth in the all-around by taking sixth on vault and 8th in beam, Carolyn Janik (Stamford) who finished fourth on bars with a 9.35 and Emma Kirchner (Old Greenwich) who took seventh on beam with a 9.225".
