NORWALK, Conn. -- The first race in the 36th annual Lightfoot Summer Road Racing Series steps off Saturday at 8 a.m. at Norwalk High School.

The 3-mile race is the first in the six race series. The other events are a 5-miler on June 29; a 7-miler on July 13; a 9-miler on July 27; an 11-miler on Aug. 17; and the Sam Elpern Half Marathon on Sept. 14. All of the races begin at 8 a.m. and start at various locations in Norwalk. Check the group website for locations and registration details.

“The Lightfoot Summer Series continues to grow, attracting runners of all ages from Norwalk and beyond,” said Don Capone, president of the Lightfoot Running Club.  “It is more than just a race series – thanks to the generous support of the Norwalk Recreation and Parks Department, volunteers, and local sponsors, it has truly become an event for the entire community. We hope to see runners of all levels join us for our 36th season.”

Both runners and walkers are encouraged to preregister. Preregistration for the entire 5-race Lightfoot series is $35. Registration for each of the individual five races is $9. Per USATF rules, no headphones will be permitted on the race course.
