Weather Puts Norwalk Schools on Ice

Norwalk Public Schools and Norwalk Community College are closed Wednesday. But snow wasn't to blame for the cancellation this time around: Instead, it was ice.

And unfortunately, more of it will form during the day as the National Weather Service is forecasting a 100 percent chance of freezing rain and sleet before noon. Between three-quarters to 1 inch of ice accumulation is possible. Winds of 17 to 24 mph are also expected.

The freezing rain is expected to change into rain after noon, making icy roadways even slicker. The accumulation of ice combined with winds will likely lead to snapped power lines and falling tree limbs.

If you must travel, it is recommended to have a flashlight, food and water in your car in case of an emergency.
