He will succeed David Trigaux as the third headmaster in the private school's history. Trigaux will serve the school as headmaster emeritus through June 2017. An educator for more than 20 years, Reynolds has served as principal of Jefferson Science Magnet School since 2003. During his tenure, the school has earned many awards for excellence in education and for innovative partnerships.

In 2015, Jefferson Science Magnet was honored with a National Blue Ribbon Award and a Junior Achievement Outstanding Educational Partner Award.

Reynolds has a master’s degree in elementary education from the University of Massachusetts, and a sixth-year degree in educational administration from the University of Connecticut, where he has completed extensive coursework toward a doctorate in educational leadership. He has authored and presented several academic papers, including "Transition to a Science Magnet School" for the National Science Teacher Association and "Targeted Flexible Regrouping and A Coherent School Improvement Model to Raise Student Achievement" for the Connecticut Reading Association.

“Pear Tree Point School has grown stronger over the years because it has stayed true to itself and its values,” Reynolds said. Founded in 1996, Pear Tree Point School is an independent elementary school in Darien that serves students in grades Pre-kindergarten through grade five.
