NORWALK, Conn. – The 470 students of Fox Run Elementary School received an unexpected day off Thursday after strong winds knocked out power to the school and parts of nearby West Norwalk.

Roughly 3 percent of Connecticut Light & Power’s customers in Norwalk were still without power as of 11 a.m.,Thursday -- 1,028 businesses, households and the school.

The school closure was not expected to last beyond Thursday.
