NORWALK, Conn. -- The Brien McMahon semi-annual clothing drive starts on Oct. 26.
The drive is set to raise funds for "several Parents Club programs including funding scholarships, the post-grad party, and for a special fund open to teachers and clubs to support specific activities," according to a press release from the school district. The drive is set to start at 10 a.m. Oct. 26 at Brien McMahon High School in Norwalk.
“The money raised for this event makes a big difference to what we can do for the students,” said Barbara Garelick, co-president of the Parents Club, in the release. “Community support is really important and we’re hoping that parents will come out in a big way this fall.”
The clothing drive accepts clothing, coats, belts, handbags, linens, pillows, backpacks, luggage, stuffed animals, boots, shoes, bicycles and sporting equipment, according to the release.
“This is the perfect time of year to clean out the closets and the garage,” said Paula Yonkers and Mary Flynn, co-chairs of the drive, in the release. “But please remember that all items must be packaged in plastic bags and please keep footwear separate (shoes, boots, sneakers and sandals).”
For more information, residents are asked to contact Paula Yonkers, clothing drive co-chair at email@example.com or 203-847-6115. Residents also can contact Mary Flynn, clothing drive co-chair, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 203-213-1626.
