Norwalk’s Brien McMahon High School Hosts Clothing Drive

NORWALK, Conn. - The Brien McMahon High School's semiannual clothing drive will raise funds this year for several Parents Club programs, including funding scholarships and the post-grad party, and for a special fund open to teachers and clubs.

“The money raised for this event makes a big difference to what we can do for the students,” says Barbara Garelick, co-president of the Parents Club. “Community support is really important, and we’re hoping that parents will come out in a big way this fall.”

The clothing drive accepts clothing, coats, belts, handbags, linens, pillows, backpacks, luggage, stuffed animals, boots, shoes, even bicycles and other sporting equipment.

“This is the perfect time of year to clean out the closets and the garage,” says Paula Yonkers and Mary Flynn, co-chairs of the drive. “But please remember that all items must be packaged in plastic bags and please keep footwear separate (shoes, boots, sneakers and sandals).”

According to Yonkers and Flynn, “We are also accepting old cellphones, tablets and other electronic devices as part of the school’s Green Fundraiser."

All donations are tax deductible and a receipt will be provided on request during drop-off.

The drop-off will be Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Brien McMahon High School at the Center for Global Studies entrance. Brien McMahon is located at 300 Highland Ave.
