The Norwalk Public Schools will dismiss two hours early Thursday because of the hot weather. Superintendent Susan Marks, who has been monitoring the conditions in the schools, made the announcement Wednesday evening.
"We checked with each school several times during the day," Marks wrote in an email to TheDailyNorwalk.com. "We have canceled Field Days for [Thursday] and outside activities. We are monitoring the situation, and checking on the forecast [Wednesday night]. I have also been in contact with superintendents in the surrounding areas."
Only five of Norwalk's 19 public schools have central air conditioning.
Temperatures are expected to hit the mid 90s Thursday.
