NORWALK, Conn. Attention bargain hunters -- get ready for a giant tag sale and flea market in Norwalk this Saturday.
The Norwalk High School Marching Bears are sponsoring their second annual mega-sale at Andrews Field on County Street from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The rain date is Sunday, July 31.
Shoppers can expect dozens of booths. "We've seen a significant uptick in vendor space rentals versus last year's inagural event," says Deirdre Sullivan, a band parent and organizer of the event.
Organizers say the event will be full of family fun, including face painting, a food court and a music by DJ Luigi Rauccio. At 11:30 a.m., Norwalk High Principal Leonard Mecca will make a special appearance in the dunk tank.
All proceeds from the event go towards Norwalk High's marching band. "Because fund-raising accounts for well over 90 percent of the band's annual budget, the success of events like this are crucial to keeping the Norwalk High band stepping high," says Sullivan.
