Norwalk High Students, Teachers Get Their Hands Dirty For Campus Cleanup

NORWALK, Conn. — Norwalk High held its 17th annual Campus Clean Up on Saturday, with more than 220 students and 30 teachers turning out to help clean the grounds and enhance the gardens at the school.

"We love the idea of the students having ownership of the campus," Norwalk High social studies teacher Robert Karl told Daily Voice. "It brings the students together. ... 

"We get about 150 showing up, and we give them a breakfast and a lunch. We get donations for plants and mulch — L & L Ever-Green has been very supportive — and the kids have fun.

"For some of them it's the first time they've touched dirt," Karl joked.
