The Norwalk High School Music Department brings a Disney classic to life this weekend. Based on the 1989 Disney movie and the 2008 Broadway musical, "The Little Mermaid" finds Ariel dreaming of the world above the sea and trading her voice for a pair of legs and true love.

“We really wanted to choose a show that was geared towards families,” said producer Chris Rivera. “It is a show that everyone can come to see and enjoy.”

Director Sara Golding-Bianco relished working with the students on the show. “The cast is a wonderful group of students who are very talented. They are passionate about music and the performing arts. It is an honor to watch them grow through the process of putting on a show.”

"The Little Mermaid" stars Clare King as Ariel, Michael Major as Prince Eric, Anna Breault as Ursula, and TJ Boyrer as Sebastian. The cast, crew, and pit orchestra is comprised of close to 100 Norwalk High School students, who began preparing for the production in January. The vocal director is Susan Pettibone, the choreographer is Michelle Sperry and the lighting design is by Susan Nicholson.

The show began last weekend and continues this weekend. Performances will be held Friday, May 5 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, May 6 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Audiences will get the chance to meet and greet cast members after the Saturday matinee show.

Tickets cost $15 for seniors and students and $18 for adults. They can be purchased at www.brownpapertickets.com.

Families can come and take pictures with the characters in costume for $2 per participant.
