NORWALK, Conn. -- Nearly 140 guests attended a college panel for students and parents Thursday at an event hosted by the Norwalk Education Foundation and the Norwalk Public Library.
The evening kicked off with a reception to meet Manuel Rivera, Norwalk’s new superintendent.
Guests were treated to a bountiful feast, prepared by the Norwalk High School culinary students and their enthusiastic instructor, Margaret Dolan. Norwalk Grows provided the produce to the culinary department. The Norwalk Public Library hosted the event.
The NHS Culinary students will be strutting their stuff again at the Norwalk Education Foundation's Taste for Education event on Nov. 7.
Volunteer panelists offered their time and resources to help Norwalk students navigate the challenges of the college application process. Dan Sullivan, Guidance Department Chair at Norwalk High School, took students through the Common Application process. Cathy Barton Zales, of Next Chapter College Consulting, provided insights about how to write a unique and meaningful essay. John Pearson, of Barnum Financial Group, walked parents through the labyrinth of financial aid.
The Norwalk Education Foundation exists to bolster Norwalk Public Schools.The NEF brings the community and community partners together to engage parents and students in the educational process.
