The ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. on the West Campus in the Academic Center Atrium.
NCC students with valid college IDs will be eligible for food, household, and personal care items at the pantry.
The food pantry was created to help students with financial difficulties to provide “short-term dependence in order to encourage long-term independence through education,” said organizer Rachel DiPietro in a press release.
The price of a low-cost meal in Fairfield County is $3.17, somewhat higher than the national average of $2.52, according to DiPietro.
Counseling and computer access will be available to help students apply for benefits they need to better afford housing, food, and educational expenses.
Community members may donate nonperishable items to stock the pantry by visiting the donation bins available in the atriums on both the East and West campuses.
