The chapter, a branch of a national organization with nearly 1,100 collegiate members, annually honors college and university employees that have a record of “promoting public engagement, providing civic pathways to academic and career success and nurturing a culture of engaged citizenship on campus and within communities,” according to a press release.

Emigh and other winners officially will be honored Wednesday, June 17, at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain.

In addition to teaching English as a Second Language courses in Norwalk, Emigh serves as the advisor of the college’s Student World Assembly chapter.

Norwalk Community College President David Levinson nominated Emigh for the award because of “his commitment to promoting sustainability on campus and developing a climate action plan in collaboration with faculty and students,” according to a press release.

Emigh earned a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and a master’s degree from Vermont’s School for International Training.
