Extended Studies helps ready students for opportunities in new careers by awarding certificates in fast-growing fields such as health care, information technology, real estate, travel, small business startup and enterprise management. 

The course prepares students to perform phlebotomy in hospitals, clinics, laboratories and physician group practices. The program includes classroom instruction as well as hands-on phlebotomy training at affiliates. 

Students will learn about the circulatory system, blood collecting, specimen collection and processing. 

Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a certificate and be eligible to take an exam offered by the National Health Center Association to become a certified phlebotomist. The course begins September 6 and meets Tuesdays from 6-9 p.m., as well as selected Thursday evenings.
